You may need to reconsider your current job situation.
In the second episode of season 3 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Kimmy takes a career aptitude test. For Kimmy, the test says that the perfect job for her is crossing guard and while Kimmy loves that idea, she doesn’t let the test limit herself.
There are times that we get stuck on the idea of a job and never try to do anything else. We get comfortable and secure. It’s much easier to stay at a job you don’t love that still gives you a steady paycheck than venture out and try something new.
You may know exactly what kind of career is best for you and you may have had all the training and schooling that you needed to land a job in that field. But could you be overlooking some of your hidden talents and abilities?
The character Kimmy Schmidt would probably be a great crossing guard but she’d also be a great waitress, actress, or tour guide. Everyone has endless possibilities of the things that they can do to earn money.
The problem is we can get stuck in thinking that we’re only suited to one kind of job and we narrow down our vision of our future.
There may be jobs and careers that you’d be amazing at that you’ve never even considered. Maybe you thought that you didn’t have the skills or the temperament needed, or perhaps you believed that the job was too out of reach for you.
There are times when we have to have faith that we’re capable of all kinds of things and that, if we fail, we’ll learn from our mistakes. You may not be instantly good at a job but if you have the ability, you can learn to be great at it through study and training.
If you’ve never heard of a gig where you pet kittens all day, you might not ever know what kind of job you’d love. Here are the best careers for the zodiac signs.
ARIES (March 21 – April 19)
You’re ambitious and have the drive to meet your goals and to aim higher. Obviously, since you have zero patience, jobs like painting, factory work, filing, and banking aren’t suitable jobs for you. But you might be surprised to learn that you’d actually be good at politics, real estate, business development manager, entrepreneur, and CEO. You’re good at making things happen and taking charge when they do.
TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)
You can be a very hard worker except when you’re not. You love your material items and you need to have the cash to buy them so that usually motivates you to get your ass out of bed and on to work. You don’t enjoy jobs that have elements of surprise to them such as being a stockbroker or a neurosurgeon. You’ve got more than enough patience, so you’d be good starting a business and putting in the long hours to nurture its growth. Your unexpected careers might be an art gallery owner, interior designer, makeup artist, baker, and filmmaker.
GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)
You lean towards hyperactive and need to have constant mental stimulation. You’re very creative and you keep your co-workers laughing, so it’s not surprising you tend to work in the journalism, public relations, and advertising industries. It would be death by boredom if you were forced to work in a cubicle in an office. Your unexpected career abilities would serve you well as a concert musician, app developer, stockbroker, and space engineer.
CANCER (June 21 – July 22)
You care about people and you don’t love conflict. Generally, you find yourself working as a doctor/nurse, singer, therapist, banker, or veterinarian. Your hidden abilities would be good for jobs as an inventor, judge, activist, and financial planner. You’re secretly good at budgeting, investments, and controlling money.
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
You have so many talent and abilities, it’s practically impossible to be aware of everything you can do for a living. You’re confident, smart, and have amazing leadership qualities so it’s not rare for Leos to be actors, talk show hosts, celebrity stylists, politicians, fashion designers, and entrepreneurs. However, as much as you shine with the spotlight on you, your abilities aren’t limited to showy careers and jobs. Your unexpected careers range from a painter, sculptor, and museum curator, to a historian and set designer.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
You can be fussy as you’re very detail-oriented and you sweat the small stuff. You’re the one person who can make order out of chaos and no one can organize like you. Normally you gravitate to careers as an accountant, a health care professional, CPA, and a researcher. However, there are some careers you might not have considered such as a music producer, theatrical director, inventor, sports scientist, and personal narrative writer.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
You do your best work in relaxed environments, so police dispatch operator isn’t the job for you. You’re great with people, charming, and there’s no one better at calming people down and smoothing out uncomfortable situations. You’ve got a great eye for beauty and have many creative talents so it’s no surprise that you’re often an actor, a musician, singer, as well as a diplomat, therapist, or architect. Careers that you’d be good at that might not have occurred to you are a professional athlete, personal trainer, and real estate agent.
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
Potential employers get very excited when they read your letters of recommendation and look at your resume because you’re intuitive, hard-working, a self-starter, and have a vast general knowledge. Your analytical thinking is very strong and that’s why you’re often a forensic expert, an insurance fraud investigator, and a private investigator. Careers that you’d definitely do well in include police officer, orchestra conductor, surgeon, and ruler of a small country.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)
You’re known for how quickly you learn things and how adept you are at picking up on social cues and cultures. You like to be your own boss and work at your own speed. You often have careers as a blogger, travel agent, documentary maker, actor, and motivational speaker. Your unexpected careers aren’t that different if you think about them, they are a psychologist, activist, social worker, Peace Corps volunteer, and humanitarian.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)
You’ve got what it takes to succeed in practically any job — you’re responsible, dependable, hard-working and motivated. You do what needs to be done, no matter how long it might take because you take that commitment very seriously. You tend to get jobs as a contractor, bank manager, engineer, web developer, and medical specialist. What you may not consider is that you’d also be good at being a writer, actor, producer, musician, artist, sex worker, or comic.
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
You’re independent, innovative, inventive, and focused, so you often have your own business. You can be contrary and opinionated but you’re an asset to any business. You tend to find jobs as a teacher, tech specialist, scientist, inventor, social worker, and technical writer. What you may not be able to anticipate is how much you’d thrive with a career as a musician, photographer, game developer, chef, and actor.
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
You’re very creative, empathetic, intelligent, understanding, clever, and funny. You don’t like jobs that are too high-pressure or stressful. The kind of jobs you gravitate to are an artist, designer, some kind of cottage industry producer (like a maker of cheese or jam that’s sold at farmer’s markets), biologist and something in non-profit. What you might not have considered when searching for a job is that you’d be very good as a nurse, veterinarian, social worker, religious studies teacher, and coordinator for an animal protection group.
