The Boston Planning and Development Agency’s board has approved most of the Fenway Corners project, a large-scale development that will bring eight new buildings and numerous retail shops to the Fenway neighborhood surrounding Fenway Park, reported by Boston Business Journal.
The project is a joint venture between WS Development, Fenway Sports Group (affiliated with the Red Sox), and the D’Angelo family, who are local business owners. Spanning over five acres, the development will encompass 2.1 million square feet of space, including lab and office space, housing units, retail locations, a daycare center, and public open space.
The project aims to enhance the pedestrian-friendliness of the area around the ballpark. The remaining portion of the development awaits approval pending the completion of a neighborhood transportation plan.
