Closed Tucson Golf Course Site for Rental Community

The Quail Canyon Golf Course was closed a few years ago. The real estate it was on, in the posh Santa Catalina Foothills, was worth more than what the pitch-and-putt course was bringing in and the owners wanted to change the zoning. After a lot of haggling among neighbors, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved 310 units on about 53 acres near Oracle and Rudasill Roads.
The plan proposes 210 apartment units across seven, three-story buildings in the site’s northern portion and 100 single-family homes in the southern portion. It’s divided by a seasonal wash that was a bone of contention among some nearby property owners. The developer, Urbaneer Investment Partners, agreed to leave most of the wash alone, in exchange for more density elsewhere.
