The Mission Rock Partners development team, a collaboration of the San Francisco Giants, Tishman Speyer and the Port of San Francisco, were joined by San Francisco Mayor London Breed to mark the opening of The Canyon, a 23-story apartment tower. The first building to be completed at Mission Rock, a 28-acre mixed-use waterfront development, The Canyon began move-ins earlier this month.
“We are opening a new neighborhood, a new community in San Francisco,” said Carl Shannon, senior managing director at Tishman Speyer. “This is 40% onsite affordable housing with no explicit public subsidy.”
At full build-out, Mission Rock will encompass more than 1,000 rental apartments; eight acres of public parks and open space and up to 1.4 million square feet of office and lab space. It will also incorporate more than 200,000 square feet of neighborhood retail and local manufacturing space, along with the rehabilitation of historic Pier 48.
